Learning to Play, Playing to Learn.
I really enjoy learning drums with Matt. He suggests great songs that are a challenge but are fun to learn. I’m always improving my skills as a drummer, with Matt’s help. He’s a brilliant tutor. Tyler, age 13, July 2021
Matt is an excellent drum tutor. He has all the music knowledge and dedication you could ask for in a tutor and he really connects with young people. My son has been learning drums with Matt since 2017 and loves it. He ‘just wanted to give drums a go’ and is now a passionate drummer, through Matt’s encouragement and expert teaching. Matt is easy going and makes it all simple - even in the most challenging song, he breaks it down, even slows it down, into manageable chunks, so his pupils build the song up in stages, with a big sense of achievement. Matt is a brilliant drum teacher. Our 10-year-old loves his weekly drum lessons, and he has made fantastic progress. Matt explains things really well, he has a great manner with kids and he is endlessly encouraging, patient and enthusiastic. We couldn’t wish for a better drum teacher for our son than Matt. Matt taught Sky drums for 8 years.
He’s reliable and takes great care in his teaching. He has great attention to detail and is patient and kind. He is an inspiring teacher and makes learning fun for Sky.
Sky has learnt a great deal and enjoyed his lessons. Although he isn’t playing drums at the moment he is doing lots of Drum & Bass mixing and DJing which he really loves. I think the discipline and timing Matt taught him is very useful for mixing, and Sky now has an amazing sense of the music and rhythms. ( Emma, June 2019)
